What Is Future Nurses?

The Future Nurses Program gives high school students who are interested in becoming a nurse an opportunity to obtain information about nursing and participate in hands-on activities, field trips, speaking with & learning from nurses.

Students take part in an intense program for 2 weeks where they will learn about health issues, patient care, job readiness skills, study skills, postsecondary education for nurses, visit nursing schools, and more.

Students may be eligible to receive 1/2 unit of elective high school credit.

Applications are now available for the 2020 Future Nurse Program. This summer program offers high school students, who are interested in a health career, the chance to experience career opportunities by taking part in volunteer work at local health care facilities.

The 2020 Future Nurse Program will only be available to high school students in Acadia and St. Landry Parishes. Students must be attending school in these parishes to participate.
