Main contact: Shirlene Bender, Louisiana HOSA State Advisor,
HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) is a student-led organization whose mission is to promote career opportunities in health care and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. Participation in HOSA provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation, and recognition.
Louisiana HOSA provides two conferences each year. A leadership conference in the fall allows students to meet other students from Louisiana who are interested in health careers, and learn about health different professions. A leadership conference in the spring provides learning opportunities and competitive events related to health care, with the opportunity to qualify for national competition.
Students interested in a career in health care may join the HOSA chapter in their middle school, high school, or post-secondary/collegiate school. If there is no chapter in the school, students may contact the State Advisor, Shirlene Bender, at 337-989-0001 to start a chapter in their school or affiliate with the state chapter.
